Buddha beggar

He said he was an altar boy back in Tasmania,

his hair slicked back by margarine, bent over

I saw him

shuffling in front of that long procession of cars,

he didn’t care, after all He was the King,

and all Fitzroy bowed down to him

like he was the Buddha beggar

himself
